I’m just so delighted to be teaching the course again! I co-invented BJC in 2008 with my good friend and colleague Brian Harvey, and absolutely love teaching it. I’m passionate about bringing engaging and powerful CS “big ideas” to students who normally wouldn’t be exposed to it. I am humbled by all the national attention BJC has received (see the “in the News” part of my website) and hope you find this class beautiful and joyful! When I’m not working, you can find me traveling, playing golf or board games (e.g., Monopoly Deal), or binging shows (anything Pixar or Marvel) with my family. p.s. My wife and I both went to Cal for grad school… Go Bears!

Hi all! I’m thrilled to be your Head TA this semester. I’m Nahee, a senior majoring in Data Science, and I’ve been working for CS10/BJC since my freshman year. I’ve made some of my best friends through this class and created precious memories along the way. Outside of class, I love watching social documentaries, racquet sports, organizing, bitter drinks, and writing personal papers. FYI, I’m from Korea and have lived in Singapore & Virginia. Super excited to meet you all!

Hey everyone! I’m Deepthi, a sophomore studying EECS. I was a TI for this class in Spring 2026, and I’m excited to be back as a tutor to help introduce students to CS! Outside of this course, I love reading, drawing, skateboarding, and trying new food. I also enjoy collecting vinyls, so if anyone has music or restaurant recommendations, let me know! Hi, I’m Ethan! I’m in my senior studying EECS. I like to run and lift but in a chill way. On campus, you can always find me in VLSB choosing a song to listen to rather than actually locking in. I am such a huge fan of movies and music; feel free to give me any recommendations. Cheers!

Hi everyone! I’m Jasmine, and I’m a junior double-majoring in cognitive science and rhetoric. I took CS 10 in my first semester at Cal, and served as an Academic Intern in Spring 2025. I also love creative writing, reading, singing, and knitting. This class was my first intro to programming, so if you’re looking for a great beginner’s course, you’re in the right place.
