Head TA Kellyann Ye (she/they)

Hi hi! I’m Kellyann, a senior studying CS and theater management! Like most of the staff, I had never programmed before college and took CS10 before I joined staff. Outside of school, I do research in the Berkeley Center for New Media on representation in American TV and cultivate my hobby of spamming my friends with pictures of cats I encounter. I’m psyched to be teaching this semester, and really excited to meet you all!

Logistics Lead Samhita Sen (she/her)

Hello hello:) I’m Samhita, a senior majoring in media studies and sociology, with a minor in education! I took CS10 my first semester at Cal and have been part of the family ever since! Outside of school, I’m working at a social media internship in healthcare communications, managing production at the Daily Cal, eating great Thai food in Berkeley, taking lots of naps, and, most importantly, working on logistics for CS10 this Fall! While I won’t be teaching a specific section this semester, come drop by my office hours anytime for assignment help, advice, a space to vent, or anything else. So excited to meet y’all!

Discussion Lead Madeleine LaBute (she/they)

Hi! I’m Maddie L, a fourth-year Compsci major. I took CS10 my freshman year and fell even deeper in love with CS. I’m a Bay Area native and come home (an hour from Berkeley) frequently to hang out with family. When I’m not coding, you can find me watching Hank Green’s Journey to the Microcosmos (would highly recommend), forcing my boyfriend who has perfect pitch to transcribe that one melody from that one song, or attempting to play Roblox with my nine year old sister (nothing makes me feel more ancient). I’m so pumped to be TAing this fall and am looking forward to getting to know you all!

Lab Lead Ze-Ning Ong (she/her)

zeningong@berkeley.edu

Hellooo I’m Ze, and I’m a junior majoring in CS! I took CS10 my freshman year and have been AI-ing since then, and I am insanely excited and nervous to be working with you all this fall :) In my free time I like petting my cat Pixel (who you will ALL see a picture of), drawing, listening to music, and walking around random places. Oh I also really like mechanical keyboards and dinosaurs (I hope you can tell from my profile picture). I look forward to getting to know all of you; this semester will be PAW-some!

Discussion TAs

Brendan Henrique (he/him/his)

bhenrique@berkeley.edu

Hello! I’m Brendan, a first year Ph.D. student at the Graduate School of Education. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts before coming to Berkeley for my undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science. I took CS10 way back in the spring of 2017 and was a TA my senior year. I left Cal after graduation to become a teacher and have spend the past two years teaching middle school science in Richmond and getting my masters degree from Loyola Marymount University. In my spare time, I love finding ways to travel for cheap and watching New England sports (Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics!).

Deeksha Kumar (she/her)

deeksha.kumar@berkeley.edu

Hi!! I’m Deeksha and I’m from a small town in Iowa. I took CS10 my freshman fall semester without any coding experience and now I’m a fourth-year CS major! Outside of school you might find me at rehearsal for the Indian dance team I’m on at Cal, rewatching Friends for the 10th time, enjoying Berkeley Thai food, or attempting to learn guitar. Teaching is a huge passion of mine which is why I love being a part of CS10 course staff. I’m so excited to meet you all this semester and help you have an amazing experience in this course!

Vedansh Malhotra

vedansh@berkeley.edu

Hey there! I’m a rising Sophomore from India majoring in CS + CogSci, and I absolutely love teaching, arm-wrestling, and learning new abbreviations (can you guess what BJC stands for?) I’d love to chat about anything- especially Netflix series/restaurant recommendations- and am super stoked to be a part of the CS-10 family! See you in class:)

Lab TAs

Arrushi Agarwal

Hey everyone! I am Arrushi Agarwal, a junior studying business and data science. I had a little coding experience before CS 10 but this class has really helped me with my future CS classes so I highly recommend it. I have been with CS 10 with over a year in the capacity of a student and an Academic Intern+. In my free time I like to cook, binge shows / movies (always up for a marvel marathon). Looking forward to a wonderful semester.

Ben Pierias (he/him)

bpierias@berkeley.edu

Hello! My name is Ben and I’m a Junior majoring in Cognitive Science with a minor in CS! I took CS10 my first semester at Cal (it was actually the class I was most looking forward to) and was blown away with how amazing computer science is. Besides school, I love the outdoors, exercising, learning about the brain, and all things cinema! I can’t wait to show you the joys of computing:)

Dominic Ventimiglia

Hello people! My name is Dominic, and I am a second year studying EECS. I am from Orange County, down in Southern California (Huntington Beach to be exact). I took CS10 fall semester of my freshmen year, with no previous coding experience, and have since fallen in love with coding. CS10 kickstarted my passion for programming and I am so excited to be able to provide that experience for all of you. Outside of school you can find me doing anything sports related. I love to rock climb, surf, snowboard, play baseball, basketball, and football, and am always down to run a game of spike ball. If anyone ever wants to send Berkeley Ironworks, my line is always open. I am super excited to have the opportunity to meet all of you.

Jake Son (he/him)

jakeson@berkeley.edu

Hi, I’m Jake! I’m a third-year EECS major from a small town in the beautiful state of New Jersey (jealous??). I took CS10 my freshman fall semester. Being involved in the CS10 community has been one of the highlights of my time at Cal, so I’m super excited to work with y’all! Outside of CS, I enjoy guitar, bouldering, skateboarding (but I’m terrible at it), hiking, and breakfast foods. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Nick Lai (he/him)

Wassup fellas :p I’m a random CS major from New Zealand who has been a part of the CS10 family since Fall 2018 (when I took the course). I’m just here because CS10 has quite literally changed my life because I loved it so much, but a tiny bonus is that I love teaching and making sure you all get the most out of CS10. Lookin’ forward to getting to know ya’ll!

Sarah Varghese (she/her)

svsarah01@berkeley.edu

hey y’all!! I’m Sarah (she/her) a 3rd year computer science major. I learned how to code in CS10 during my freshman year at Cal and fell in love with programming and computing in general! I actually grew up in Texas and try to go home & visit my family as often as I can! Other than CS — I love sports (if you want to talk basketball, soccer, or F1 hmu), am working part-time this semester, and live to hike/swim (tbh anything in the sun and/or water)! Stop by my office hours anytime for help, advice, just to chat or vent, album/artist/book recs — literally anything, I love to socialize. Looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you!! (:

Vaibhav Mohata (he/him)

vaibhav.mohata@berkeley.edu

I am a junior studying Computer Science and Mathematics. I started programming in high school but didn’t really enjoy it until CS10 at CAL after which I took 61A and 61B. I am most fluent in Java and Python but also know the very basics of HTML, CSS, JS and C (which are for mostly resume purposes). I love playing soccer and am a huge Messi fan. Apart from that, I also love reading fiction (favorite is Harry Potter) and watching anime so if you have any anime stuff you want to talk about I am always here for it. This semester I would be working as a TA for CS10, taking MATH H104, COMPSCI 61C, MATH 113, and DATA C140. Outside of school, I hope to get a research position and get involved in some club projects.

Yishu Chao (she/they)
