WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL?

I grew up in a small city called West Covina which is like, 20 miles(???) from Downtown LA. I applied to Berkeley sort of on a whim; I planned to apply to three UCs and was pretty certain about applying to UCI and UCLA; I was left deciding between UCSD and Berkeley. I ended up picking Berkeley because there was less reading involved but now I’m here and it’s great!!

HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)?

From taking classes at Berkeley, I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with Snap!, Python, Java, and a bit of C. I’ve also done some programming in Swift which is for iOS development, a little bit of R for data science, and some HTML and CSS for web dev. I’m currently learning how to make web apps in Angular and hopefully Android development soon!!!! (dude we get it ur a nerd).

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?

I like to explore different genres of music and artists; I try to make it a goal each week to discover some new music. I’m a huge fan of shows like Chef’s Table and Black Mirror on Netflix!! I’ve been dabbling a bit with music production (not a lot of success so far HAHA) and I very much enjoy cooking (like actually cooking as well as the culture behind it all). I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really like learning random things! Missing out on interesting things and good music make me sad :c

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS?

I can cook pretty well, I can also play a few instruments like the piano and some pretty common mallet instruments like the marimba/vibraphone/etc. I also know how to shine shoes the “old-fashioned” way and find it somewhat zen. My average typing speed is about 130wpm, but my record is 151!

HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU?

When I was little, I got lost in the mall with my mom’s friend so I walked around the entire mall about 5 times before deciding that I would walk to my friend’s house to borrow his phone. That being said, I actually did not know how to get to his house from the mall and I could have just asked… anybody else in the mall for their phone.

WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER?

I’m taking ESPM 151 which explores a variety of environmental paradigms which is pretty cool. I’m also taking CS186 (databases) and Data 100! I’m also working on a side project for 10 right now but that’s kind of under wraps… for now ^ ^.
